A Half -Day Field Trip in Dulishan

For the group presentation, one of my friends and I were responsible for having a field trip to take some pictures of the plants and the scenery. And we decided to go to Dulishan (獨立山). Dulishan is a railway station on the Forestry Bureau Alishan Forest Railway line located in Zhuqi Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. And it is famous for the Alishan Forest Railway that spirals up the mountain.

We started from Zhangnaoliao(樟腦寮)station

And saw a tunnel after a few minutes. However, the tunnel is impassible, so we stepped over a fence next to the tunnel instead.
A short drawbridge and the scenery on the hallway
After hiking for almost 30 minutes, we were exhausted! Since the weather is quite hot and we don't know exactly how far we still needed to walk to arrive at the commanding heights. We were thinking of giving up for so many times. But we didn't.
                                                                   .
                                                                   .
                                                                   .
Finally...
Here we are!

The story is not over, when we were about to return, we thought we should take a look at Dulishan train station, so we took the other route. To our surprise, we found out that 15 minutes later, there would be a train which could take us back to Zhangnaoliao(樟腦寮)station, and we were so lucky because there are only one shift a day on week days.

the scenery on the train was amazing, and most importantly, it was so much easier and faster...
This is the first time I ever went hiking with my friend, and although it was just for the group presentation at first, but it turned out very successful and I really enjoyed the whole trip. Besides, it also changed my attitude toward hiking. The moment I finally arrived at the commanding elevation(制高點), I felt everything was worth it. We were struggling for whether we should give up or not after half of the way. And I have to thank myself that I didn't give up, otherwise I would never arrive the other train station and took the train eventually.
It is true that No Pain No Gain!!!
